Clarinetist Ákos Ács is the principal and solo clarinetist of the clarinet section in Budapest Festival Orchestra.

He will feature as the soloist of out Master Class concert on the 4 October 2019. Related to this concert, a one-day master class will be organized for clarinetist attending vocational schools and universities in Hungary, lead by Ákos Ács.

However, the  course will be open both to public and passive participants.

Forecasted number of active participants: 6 persons

Ákos Ács played Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major in 2016 with the Budapest Festival Orchestra in the largest concert halls of Europe: the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, the Brugge Concertgebouw, the San Sebastian Kursaal, the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, and in  the Palace of Arts.
By gathering and analyzing the experiences this has provided in this course, his purpose is to highlight which are the professional, musical, instrument technological and formational problems, issues and solutions that do not happen automatically when stepping out of the orchestra, but the comprehension and learning of which is expected, required and feasible on both sides (the orchestra and the soloist stepping out of it).
Emphasizing the differences between the musical articulation of the orchestra and the soloist’s interpretation is very important for the participants of the course, for a considerable part of woodwind players become orchestral musicians after graduation.

So the topic of the course will be Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major, moreover, Ákos Ács will select several orchestral clarinet solos that will illustrate the aforementioned differences and the possible solutions can also be highlighted.

The prospective active participants may apply until 20 September 2019 to Artistic Manager Margit Váraljai-Bátki at The result of the selection will be announced until 25 September 2019.
